2025 Summary

Derek Mantey will be in his first year as the Defensive Coordinator for the 2022 season. He joined Northeastern Lacrosse as a volunteer assistant defensive coach in the fall of 2019. Prior to his arrival to NEU, Derek has spent the last seven years coaching for Needham Youth Boys Lacrosse. Other coaching stints for Derek have included Team Central Lacrosse, Waltham Youth Boys Lacrosse, and Waltham High School JV Mens Ice Hockey. Derek graduated from Western New England University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration: Management Studies. While at WNE, Derek was a four-year member of the Golden Bears men’s lacrosse program, as a defensive mid-fielder. During his tenure, the Golden Bears compiled a remarkable 63-12 record (84.0 winning percentage) and captured three conference titles (one in the Pilgrim League and two in the Commonwealth Coast Conference). Western New England also advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship three times from 2007-09, and set school record for victories (17) in both 2007 and 2009.
