Sonoma Outlines 2016 Schedule

October 26th, 2015 General News | Sonoma State

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Sonoma State played one of the hardest schedules in the MCLA in 2015. The Seawolves will undertake a similar task in 2016. A schedule featuring games against nine opponents ranked inside the Top 25 in 2015 means 2016 will be a difficult year. Of course, the Seawolves are up for the challenge.

The team opens the season on the road against Chico State on Feb. 13. The Seawolves then return home to scrimmage former MCLA outfit Westminster. A week later, the Seawolves will look to avenge their one-goal loss to Chapman on Feb. 20 before facing conference foe Santa Clara on Sunday, Feb. 21. Sonoma then heads out on the road for four games, first to face USC and UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 27-28. Sonoma then heads to Oregon to battle PNCLL champion Oregon State and third place-finisher Idaho.

Longtime rival Colorado State visits Rohnert Park on March 15 before the Seawolves head on spring break for games against the University of Washington (3/19) and Simon Fraser (3/21). When the Seawolves return, they take on longtime rival Cal Poly on March 26 -- only the third home game of the season. A midweek game against Dominican on March 29, giving the Seawolves have their first set of back to back home games.

Sonoma remains at home for a game against Cal on April 2 before heading out to finish up the regular season at Nevada on April 9 and Stanford on April 16. WCLL playoffs are slated for April 30 and May 1.
