Loda Out, Bokmeyer In at Texas

November 24th, 2015 General News | Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- After four and a half year as the head coach at Texas, Kyle Loda has announced his resignation from the Longhorn program.

“It is with a humble heart”, said Coach Loda, “that I recognize I cannot juggle the helm of this prestigious team along with my professional career off the field. I can sincerely say that over the past four and half years I have poured my heart and soul into this program. The gratitude that I have for the Longhorn nation is immeasurable, and I’ve been blessed to have worked with some of the finest student-athletes across the country and love them dearly. In addition, I want to express the utmost appreciation to the coaches, officials, recruits, and university reps that I have worked with over the years. I will be a loyal Longhorn fan forever and wish the best of luck to the team moving forward. Hook ‘Em!”

Loda was instrumental in organizing recruiting combines, youth tournaments and clinics, as well as being a key player in fundraising for the Texas program. During his time with the Longhorns, which included stints as offensive coordinator and head coach, Loda helped the team record a 34-19 mark and three consecutive LSA championships.

Replacing Loda will be Seth Bokmeyer. Bokmeyer is a UT alum as well as a West Point graduate. He served in the US Army for 10 years before working in both the defense and airline industries.

Bokmeyer spent seven years building the Granite Hills High program and was recognized as the San Diego Coach of the Year. He also spent five years at Rancho Bernado High. Between his two stops, more than 40 players from Bokmeyer's teams went on to play in the MCLA and NCAA.

“We are extremely excited about the hiring of Coach Bokmeyer," said UT president and captain Ethan Galowitz. "We look forward to his leadership, wisdom and discipline for many years to come."
