ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse team opened their season at home against St. Ambrose (Iowa) with a 19-4 win on Saturday.

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter as the team notched four goals to the Fighting Bees one. Dan Mollet recorded three of the four goals for his first hat trick of the season.

MBU continued on the attack with nine goals in the second and third quarters and held SAU to none.

The fourth quarter saw St. Ambrose make an advance as the team found the back of the Spartan net two more times. Missouri Baptist answered the two goals with three of their own before the buzzer sounded.

Dan Mollet led the offense with five goals. Devin Mayer followed right behind Mollet with four goals of his own.

Freshman Robert Ates started in goal for Missouri Baptist and recorded 10 saves in the game with only four goals against.

The Spartans evened out their season/home opener record to 4-4 with the win.

MBU will be on the road next weekend to Knoxville, Tenn. to face Grove City on March 4 and Siena Heights on March 5.
