HENDERSON, Nev. – Chapman enjoyed being the No. 1 team in Division I for all of two days before having to face its stiffest test of the season against No. 4 BYU on Friday night at the LAX Coaches vs. Cancer event. The game played out just as the rankings would suggest with the Panthers needing overtime to subdue the Panthers, 10-9.

It was a game of runs until the final marker. BYU (4-1) raced out to a 4-0 lead after 15 minutes thanks in large part to the goaltending of Matt Brandenburg, who was excellent all evening. Chapman (4-0) answered with a 4-1 second quarter, only to watch the Cougars answer again with 4-1 third. The Panthers outscored BYU 3-1 in the fourth to send the game into extra time.

Both teams have to put this one behind them quickly as Chapman plays No. 21 Utah Valley, a team that is no stranger to giant killing. BYU draws No. 15 San Diego State.

No. 10 Colorado State d. No. 18 Boise State
Riding two goals and two assists from Jake Johnson and a 12-save performance from Jake Bender, Colorado State (2-1) fought off a determined Boise State (5-2) squad. The game was close for most of the contest, with the Rams having a stronger finishing kick than the Broncos.

No. 13 Boston College Trips No. 12 Grand Canyon

In a “rematch” of the College Football Playoff championship game, Cam Petrovich amassed six points, including the game-winner to give the Tigers a measure of revenge. The Tigers tweeted the final score with a #forDabo hashtag as a nod to their football coach.

No. 3 Colorado d. No. 19 Oregon
It took Oregon (4-1) a quarter and a half to find its stride, but by the time the Ducks got into rhythm, Colorado (2-1) already held a 6-1 edge. It was pretty much an even game from then on out, but the margin held in the Buffs 12-8 victory. John Clayton and Ben Wharton had four apiece for CU.

No. 2 North Dakota State d. No. 12 Kennesaw State
Cody Clark scored six goals, helping Kennesaw (4-1) race out to a 9-7 lead at halftime, but NDSU (3-0) turned it up a notch in the second half, outscoring the Owls, 8-1 en route to a 15-10 victory in Nashville.

No. 5 Grand Valley State d. No. 17 Florida Gulf Coast
GVSU (1-0) grabbed a 4-0 lead to start the game and the Lakers defense never let FGCU (3-2) get its offense flowing in an 11-6 victory.

MSU-Mankato d. Nebraska
The Mavericks posted a solid, 15-10 victory over the Cornhuskers, but the biggest win of the night went to Mankato coach Ryan Marshall, who proposed to his girlfriend after the game.
