ATLANTA- No. 2 Georgia Tech continued its hot start against No. 14 Michigan State on Sunday afternoon with a 11-5 victory.

Holland Frost scored on isolations on each of the first two possessions to get Tech out of the gate fast. Ben Mertz added a third goal as the Jackets raced out to a 3-0 lead in just over two minutes of play.

The rest of the quarter was a defensive struggle as neither team could break through early. Late in the quarter, Brian Connolly and Danny Radke were able to add goals to give the Jackets a 5-1 halftime lead.

Tech started the second half with an extra man, but were unable to cash in. The Tech defense lead by Matt Sommerfeldt, Will Byars, David Cyron and Nic Matarrazzo held the Spartans at bay for long stretches.

Mertz then added his second goal of the day and freshman Timmy Peterson got in on the act, as well, giving the Jackets a 7-2 at the end of the quarter. Kevin Chatlin, Sam Ford and Chris O’Brien all added goals in the fourth quarter as Tech was able to close out the game and get the 11-5 win.

The Jackets are in action again on Saturday when Alabama comes to Atlanta for a regional clash.
