LaxCats Bury Boston College

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The eighth-ranked University of Arizona Laxcat’s defeated No. 13 Boston College on Saturday afternoon, 16-5 in a non-conference game at David Sitton Field. Arizona dominated the game from start to finish, exploded for a season-high in goals.

The Laxcats gave up a quick goal in the first 30 seconds, but Matt Lai (3g) responded with a goal of his own to tie it. Christian Turri (4g) stuck for another goal a few minutes later to give the Laxcats their first lead of the game. The Eagles would tie the score heading into the second quarter.

In the second, the 'Cats scored five goals to increase their lead to 7-3 right before the half. Foster Bundy (2g), Zach Rogers (2g), Colton Lyold (3g,1a) and Turri all tacked on goals to push the lead to four with a minute to play in the half. After a quick turnover on man-up, Boston College was able to sneak a quick goal before the half to narrow the margin to 7-4.

The Arizona offense stayed hot in the second half, scoring nine goals with five coming in the third quarter. The defense continued to flex its muscles, holding the Eagles scoreless for the next 29 minutes. BC scored with less than a second left in the game to make the final 16-5.

Arizona will face Westminster (Utah), an NCAA Division II program, this Tuesday at 5 p.m. on Sitton Field. Check the Twitter account (@arizonalaxcats) for our live stream of the game.

* Christian Turri led the offense with four goals
* Colton Lyold had four points (3G,1A)
* Jerome Rigor (2G, 1A), Matt Lai (3G), Ryan Falbo (3A) each had three points
* Tanner Knego had 13 saves with only four goals allowed
* Cody Biggs had two great saves while giving up one goal
