MVC’s Shindoll Has D-II Top Performance

MVC’s Shindoll Has D-II Top Performance

March 29th, 2016 General News | Concordia | Kennesaw State | Lourdes | Missouri Valley | Northern Arizona

ATLANTA – After sparking Missouri Valley to a pair of wins this weekend, including a comeback victory over No. 17 Indiana Tech, freshman Austin Shindoll has earned the MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 27.

The Vikings opened the weekend by taking down St. Gregory’s – picked third in the LSA preseason poll – 13-2, and Shindoll contributed with three goals and an assist. The Denver native followed that up with a four goal, one assist performance in the 13-12 victory over the 17th-ranked Warriors.
Coming into the game, Shindoll had just one point against MCLA competition.

“Austin is a great attribute to the team,” said Missouri Valley coach Kevin Totaro. “He has a great work ethic in the classroom and on the field. He is a player that puts the team before himself. Austin brings a great dynamic to the team with his experience of field and box lacrosse and we are looking forward to Austin continuing to grow with the team.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Shindoll will receive a new Under Armour Command Head. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Jacob Belshin, Fr., Northern Arizona – The Lumberjacks upset Division I Claremont, 18-17, thanks to six goals and two dimes by the rookie. Belshin finished the three-game weekend with 17 points (11g, 6a).

Jay Fischer, Sr., Lourdes – The Gray Wolves long-stick middie had a solid week, registering eight ground balls and three caused turnovers against No. 17 Indiana Tech before adding 10 GBs, 1 CT and an assist against St. Ambrose.

Connor Hanson, Jr., Kennesaw State – The Owls’ netminder made 17 saves in the 9-8 victory over No. 13 Reinhardt on Saturday afternoon, allowing for a Kennesaw comeback.

Chase Matranga, Sr., Concordia-Irvine – Squaring off with No. 17 Cal State Fullerton – the Eagles biggest threat in the SLC – Matranga scored four goals and set up two others in CUI’s 14-10 victory.
