PBA’s Corbin Has D-II Top Performance

PBA’s Corbin Has D-II Top Performance

April 19th, 2016 General News | Grove City | Northern Arizona | PBA | Sierra Nevada | Western Oregon

ATLANTA – Palm Beach Atlantic locked up the top seed in the SELC Southeast division with a win over its biggest rival, led by the play of rookie midfielder Christian Corbin. For his efforts, Corbin earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 17.

With divisional supremacy on the line against archrival Florida Gulf Coast, Corbin scored three goals and set up two others for a game-high five points. The Bowie, Md., product’s last assist of the day set up the game-winning goal in the Sailfish’s 9-8 victory over the Eagles.

Palm Beach Atlantic now enters the SELC tournament as a No. 1 seed and will face Reinhardt in the quarterfinals on Friday.

"Christian is one of the most humble, coachable players I've ever coached,” said PBA coach Chris Southard. “He embodies the culture of Palm Beach Atlantic. He is an incredible man whose value on the lacrosse field is superseded by his faith and his value as a leader of this team."

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Corbin will receive a new Under Armour Command Head. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

UNDER ARMOUR HONOR ROLL

Sean Mastro, Soph., Northern Arizona – The Lumberjacks picked up a pair of solid wins, aided by a combined seven goals and 11 assists from Mastro. NAU is heading to the SLC tourney.

Daniel Casselli, Sr., Grove City – The Wolverines lost to Dayton, but Caselli gave it his all, scoring four goals and setting up three others against the defending national champions.

Logan Comer, Fr., Western Oregon – In a key PNCLL South matchup, Comer scored five goals and assisted on two others, allowing the Wolves to knock off the College of Idaho, 16-15.

Jack Witt, Jr., Sierra Nevada – The long-stick middie scored a goal, dished out three helpers and gobbled up an astounding 23 ground balls in rout of Humboldt State.
