Yoshino, Lourdes Rout UM-Dearborn

April 7th, 2016 General News | Lourdes | MIch.-Dearborn

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- Jared Yoshino (Toledo, Ohio/Southview) tallied 12 points to move over 200 for his career and Danny Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio/North) tallied five of his six goals in the second half as Lourdes defeated Michigan-Dearborn 20-8 on Wednesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.

Yoshino scored four times and handed out eight assists, giving him 208 career points, and is nearing the 100-goal plateau with 97 career tallies. Bichsel increased his team-leading goal tally to 46 with his game-high six markers.

"Tonight we tried to focus on the little things that make a big difference and the guys worked hard to get them right," head coach Patrick Yannarelli said afterwards. "The attack unit found a nice rhythm and that is really important moving forward. The mids did a nice job getting up and down the field and the defense is figuring it out."

With the game tied at one midway through the opening quarter, Lourdes scored six unanswered goals to build a 7-1 lead with 12:41 to play in the second period. The Gray Wolves increased the lead to 10-2 before the Wolverines tallied the final three goals before halftime to pull within five at the break.

Michigan-Dearborn cut its deficit to four, 11-7, with 10:49 remaining in the third, but Lourdes ended the period with four straight goals to regain control, starting a 9-1 run to close out the game.

Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's) tallied five goals and an assist on the night while Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio/Saint Francis) and Casey Hilfinger (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) each added two goals. Gill also had an assists. Tanner Jaramillo (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) also added a score for the Gray Wolves.

Jay Fisher (Toledo, Ohio/Southview) collected a game-high eight groundballs for Lourdes while Conner Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's) made 16 saves on the 24 shots he faced.

Donald Roda and Matthew Rosteck led Michigan-Dearborn (2-6, 0-3 WHAC) with two goals each.

Lourdes (10-2, 2-1) will take to the road for the final time in the 2016 regular season on Saturday as the Gray Wolves head to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Aquinas. The opening faceoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at the Aquinas Athletic Field.
