BYU’S Severson Has D-I Top Performance

BYU’S Severson Has D-I Top Performance

May 3rd, 2016 General News | Boston College | BYU | Cal Poly | Michigan State

ATLANTA – After guiding Brigham Young to a pair of Top 10 wins and the RMLC tournament championship, Brigham Young freshman attackman Chris Severson has earned Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending May 1.

In Friday’s victory over No. 6 Colorado State, Severson posted a pair of goals for the Cougars in the 10-5 victory that sent them to the RMLC finals against Colorado. It was there that the South Jordan, Utah, native made his mark.

Severson torched the Buffaloes for two goals and five assists, factoring in over half of the team’s production in the 12-8 triumph. With the conference championship, the Cougars secured the No. 5 seed in the MCLA National Championships.

"Chris is one of the hardest working players on our team,” said BYU coach Matt Schneck. “His effort, his consistency in showing up to the field early to take extra shots and his desire to help the team in anyway has put him in a position to contribute every week in every game. He leads the team in scoring on the field and with his example off the field. He is an all-around great young man and representative of BYU. As only a freshman, he has a very bright future.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Severson will receive a new Under Armour Command Head. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

UNDER ARMOUR HONOR ROLL

John Corbolotti, Soph., Cal Poly – The Mustangs completed a perfect WCLL campaign with a conference championship. Corbolotti scored three goals and dished out two assists in each of the wins over Sonoma State and Cal-Berkeley.

Dylan Garner, Soph., Chapman – Had nine goals and five assists in wins over Arizona State and Grand Canyon. Buried the game-tying and game-winning goals in the SLC title game against the Lopes.

Stevie McKee, Soph., Michigan State – The Spartans rolled to yet another CCLA championship and the midfielder played a huge part. McKee had three goals and an assist against Western Michigan before dropping seven points (4g, 3a) on Davenport for the title.

Eddie Richardson, Sr., Boston College – The multifaceted midfielder did it all for the Eagles in their PCLL title run. He combined for two goals and two assist against Buffalo and UConn while also gobbling up 17 ground balls.
