ARCATA, CA - For the second straight week, a stingy Sierra Nevada defense held its opponent scoreless through four quarters during even-situation play, allowing the Eagles to improve to 3-0 on the year and remain undefeated in the WCLL after a 13-3 victory over Humboldt State on Saturday.

Pacing the SNC offense was attackman Alex Brownlee, who found the back of the net four times and tallied one assist. Midfielders Quinn Nicodemus and Jake McIntyre each contributed two goals. In all, eight different Eagles scored.

Despite Sierra Nevada finding themselves in the penalty box for a total of 16:30, the Eagle defense held stout all afternoon. Senior defenseman Sergio Orduna notched a goal in transition and long stick midfielder Jack Witt gobbled up 11 ground balls. Freshman Jonathon Soliz was awarded the game ball for his outstanding defensive performance.

"We are grateful for being 3-0 on the year. However, finding yourselves in the penalty box for more than a quarter of the game is an extremely tough pill to swallow. We have to clean up our act," said SNC coach, Matt Blamey. "We are going to be tested tenfold over our next few games and need to prepare as such. We have a long ride home, then it's time to get back to work."

The Eagles have a tough slate coming up. Next Saturday, SNC will travel to San Luis Obispo to face current top-ranked MCLA D-I Cal Poly. Nine days later, the Eagles will fly to Minnesota to square-off against MCLA D-II defending national champion and current top-ranked University of St. Thomas.
