COI’s Carson Has Top Performance

COI’s Carson Has Top Performance

March 28th, 2017 General News | Cal State San Marcos | College of Idaho | GVSU | Louisiana | Mo. State

ATLANTA – After sparking the College of Idaho to a pair of wins over ranked teams this weekend, Yotes freshman midfielder Jaden Carson has earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 26.

The Yotes started the weekend against No. 15 UC Santa Cruz on Friday evening in Ashland, Ore., and the Meridian, Idaho, product buried five goals as COI edged the Slugs, 17-16.

On Sunday, the 24th-ranked Yotes battled PNCLL North divisional rival and No. 23 Southern Oregon. Thanks to six goals from Carson, the College of Idaho took down the defending conference champions, 16-7.

Aided by Carson’s 16 goals and four assists on the season, COI is 7-0 this spring.

“Jaden's speed, paired with his ability to score with either hand, makes him a mismatch nightmare,” said College of Idaho coach Matt Gier. “Jaden also played both ways this weekend. I had him on each opposing team’s best midfielder and Jaden's staunch defense forced multiple turnovers. His tremendous effort was a huge part of our success.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Carson will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
