Brigham Young Paces D-I Bracket

April 30th, 2017 General News | BYU | Grand Canyon

ATLANTA – After winning the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference championship, Brigham Young will be the top seed in the 2017 MCLA Division I National Championships powered by Under Armour.

The tournament will begin on Monday, May 8 with eight first round games at UC Irvine and conclude on Saturday, May 13 on the campus of Chapman University.

The Cougars will face Michigan State, the winner of the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association making its eighth visit to nationals.

Grand Canyon, which enters the tournament on a nine-game winning streak after taking the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference title, is the second seed and will battle Northeastern out of the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League.

No. 14 Florida State, an at-large pick from the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference, draws No. 3 Colorado while Lone Star Alliance winner Southern Methodist tangles with SELC title-holder Georgia Tech in the No. 4-13 tilt.

No. 12 Virginia Tech was the last at-large selection out of the SELC and the Hokies will match up with Western Collegiate Lacrosse League champion Cal Poly.

WCLL runner-up California is slotted in the sixth seed and will face Oregon, which took home the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League crown. Arizona State and Colorado State will clash in the No. 7-10 game, respectively.

In a rematch of a February contest, defending national champion Chapman, the No. 9 seed, will meet up with No. 8 Utah for the right to advance.
