WCLL Ready for Postseason

April 24th, 2017 General News | Cal Poly | California | Humboldt | Sierra Nevada | Sonoma State | Stanford | UC Davis | UC Santa Cruz

SAN FRANCISCO – The top four teams in each division of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League will meet in Novato, Calif., this weekend to determine the 2017 champions.

The winners in each division earn an automatic bid to the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held in Orange County, Calif., from May 8-13

The Division I bracket features a pair of national powerhouses as both top-seeded Cal Poly and second-seeded California have been ranked No. 1 in the country at some point in 2017. The Mustangs draw Stanford in the first semifinal while the Golden Bears tangle with Sonoma State.

Two-time defending conference champions Sierra Nevada is once again the favorite in Division II and the top-seeded Eagles will clash with Humboldt State in the first semifinal. Second-seed UC Santa Cruz faces UC Davis in the other semi.

“This is always a great time of year in the WCLL and this year’s tournament is going to be very entertaining in both divisions,” said WCLL president Aaron Myers. “It’s going to be a fantastic weekend of lacrosse.”

Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Information about live stream coverage will come at a later date.
