May 16th, 2017 General News | Concordia | GVSU | NDSU | St. Thomas

ORANGE, Calif. – After averaging over a hat trick per game at the national championships, Concordia-Irvine sophomore attackman Brandon Mayo has earned the MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending May 13.

Mayo opened the tournament by netting four goals in a comfy victory over Louisiana and followed that up in the quarterfinals with three markers in a one-goal win over St. John’s.

The Coto de Caza, Calif., product stuck for three goals and two assists in the semifinal triumph against North Dakota State before capping off the tournament with another hat trick in the national championship victory over St. Thomas.

For the week, Mayo accumulated 13 goals, two assists and a ring.

“Brandon has one of the most deceptive and electric shots I have ever seen,” said Concordia-Irvine coach Ryan Brent. “When he works within our offensive system it is next to impossible to stop him. I am really proud of his performance this week and all season long.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Mayo received a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
