OMAHA -- The Creighton University men's lacrosse team is pleased to announce the hiring of Jonathan Hendrzak as head coach for the 2018 season.

Hendrzak, a Bluejay assistant, will take over the program from long-time coach Will Gilner, who stepped down at the end of last season after 15 years at the helm.

Prior to joining the Bluejay staff, Hendrzak was a four-year defensive starter for Creighton, and is a product of the Bishop Moore Catholic High School program in Orlando, Fla.

As a player, Hendrzak participated in the GRLC playoffs twice. He also helped guide Creighton to the GRLC finals in 2017 as an assistant coach. Hendrzak continues to play for the Omaha Bombers, a post-collegiate that that won the Omaha men’s lacrosse league this past summer.

Creighton has also announced the hiring of Travis Rabun as an assistant coach.

Rabun graduated from Hendrix College (NCAA Division III) in 2016. At Hendrix, Rabun earned numerous accolades as a player, tying the school record for assists, ranking second in points, third in goals, fifth in ground balls, and eighth in caused turnovers.

In addition to being named assistant coach, he will serve as the offensive coordinator for the Bluejays. Rabun hails from Lone Tree, Colo., with his prep career coming at Highlands Ranch High School.

Hendrzak and Rabun eye continued success from last year as the team joins the Lone Star Alliance.
