N-eastern Unveils Captains, Sked

November 20th, 2017 General News | Northeastern

BOSTON -- The Northeastern men's lacrosse team has named a trio of captains to lead the 2018 version of the Huskies as well as releasing its schedule for the coming spring.

Northeastern will lean on three seniors to guide the Huskies. Defenseman Joey Silva, midfielder Ben Ruzzo and goalie Chris McPartland have been named captains, according to Huskies' coach Chris Boland.

"I am really excited for Joey, Ben, and Chris to lead this program not only on the field but off it as well," Boland said. "All three bring a passion, energy, and commitment that was clear through their hard work this fall on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom."

Silva, Ruzzo and McPartland will lead Northeastern against a 10-game regular season slate that features four teams ranked in the final MCLA Top 25 of 2017.

The Huskies will take on Virginia Tech, a quarterfinalist last year at the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, at the annual Battle for Baltimore event and will then face semifinalist Georgia Tech a week later.

Within the PCLL, which Northeastern won last spring, the Huskies will tangle with UConn and Boston College.

"Our 2018 spring schedule is one that we are really excited about this year," Boland said. "Early games against Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Georgia will be great tests for our team on a national level. The PCLL once again is up for grabs this year, so we hope to be playing our best lacrosse in April for conference play."
