ATLANTA - The Boston College men's lacrosse team flew to Atlanta to take on two of the toughest opponents on the 2018 schedule and the Eagles managed to post a split.

On Saturday, Boston College took down No. 6 Georgia Tech before falling by a single goal to No. 2 Chapman.

The game with Georgia Tech was a battle all the way through, and intensity was high.

With the game tied at threes at half, assistant coach Casey Stevenson addressed the team.

“One team is going to get tired, one team is gonna get lazy, one team is going to quit. Don’t let that be us.”

The Eagles took that to heart, and went on a 5-0 run at the beginning of the third quarter, eventually pulling out the victory, 8-5.

David Hincks and Joe Tarquini continued their success from the previous weekend by netting three goals each in the contest. Seamus Scaring was an elite distributor in this one, notching four assists.

The defense stood tough against a powerful Yellow Jacket offense, as defenseman Ryan Neff, PJ McIntyre, and Chris Rylkov only allowed five goals in the contest.

The Eagles had a quick turnaround and faced Chapman on Sunday afternoon.

Boston College came out of the gate slowly in the first quarter, and dug themselves into a 3-0 hole. After what could only be described as Canadian wizardry, Spencer Bromley changed the momentum of the game with a nifty goal to spark the attack.

The Eagles clawed their way back during the second quarter to make it 6-6 at the half.

The defense, led by captain Neff and goalie Mike O’Keefe, played outstanding the entire game and held one of the best offenses in the country to only three goals in the second half.

Chapman scored a quick two in the fourth and the Eagles were never able to recover. BC had one last chance to tie with time winding down after a caused turnover, but unfortunately were unable to convert, losing 9-8.

Hincks continued to shine, scoring three goals while Bromley tallied three of his own. Gerard Quinn had three assists on the day and Scaring added another two.

Faceoff specialist Griffin Carney played an incredible game at the X, winning 15-of-21 draws.

The Eagles look to continue their success this upcoming weekend when they play No. 5 Arizona State, No. 25 Arizona and Coach Louie DeDonatis’ alma mater, No. 1 Grand Canyon.
