ATLANTA – Georgia Tech will be hosting Florida State and Minnesota in the 2018 East Coast Lacrosse Coaches vs. Cancer event from March 2-4.

Over the past two seasons this outing has raised nearly $10,000 and the goal is to build on that amount this spring.

“It's great to have an East Coast Coaches vs. Cancer event again anchored by Georgia Tech,” said Matt Holman, the head of the Lacrosse Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. “Unfortunately, the fight against cancer is everyone's battle. The lacrosse games are all about awareness and providing support for those affected by cancer."

The game start on Friday, March 2 when No. 5 Georgia Tech entertains No. 11 Florida State at 7 p.m. That is followed by the Seminoles squaring off with No. 17 Minnesota on Saturday at 2 p.m. The weekend wraps up on Sunday when the Gophers take on the Yellow Jackets at noon.

“We are delighted to have Florida State back and to have the Minnesota Golden Gophers travel down south for this event, which will be a great weekend of lacrosse for all involved," said Georgia Tech coach Ken Lovic.

All games are at Georgia Tech's Roe Stamps Field. Admission is free with a $5 per adult donation requested. All of the proceeds will go to Lacrosse Coaches vs. Cancer. Online donations are also available.

"Sadly, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't been affected by this insidious disease, my family included,” said Florida State coach Patrick Teubner. “The Seminole lacrosse family is excited to participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer weekend, helping to be a part of the solution."

"We're very excited to be part the Coaches vs. Cancer event again this year,” added Minnesota coach Rich Limpert. “These are notable games between three of the MLCA's preseason ranked teams and a fulfilling way to partner with the fans around our sport to raise funds for such a worthy cause."
