CCSU’s Pearson Has Top Performance

CCSU’s Pearson Has Top Performance

March 27th, 2018 General News | Baylor | Central Connecticut | Minn-Duluth | Montana State | Kennesaw State

ATLANTA – After leading Central Conn. State to the biggest win in program history, Blue Devils freshman attackman Jared Pearson earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 25.

Central Conn. State hosted two-time defending PCLL champion and No. 14 Bridgewater State on Saturday, and Pearson had four goals and two assists in the Blue Devils’ 8-7 overtime victory.

Pearson’s fourth goal of the game was the decisive score in extra time.

The following day against a rugged Stonehill squad, the Newtown, Conn., product delivered again, scoring a team-high five goals along with an assist and five ground balls.

For the week, the rookie amassed nine goals and three assists in two games.

“Jared stepped up as a freshman in what could be the biggest win in program history and following that up by putting the team on his back in what could have been a trap game,” said Central Conn. State coach Brendan Frobel.

“It’s not just the stats either,” Frobel continued. “His intense riding, ground balls and physical play along with becoming a vocal leader in the huddle have been the little things we’ve needed to help get over the early season growing pains young teams experience.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Pearson will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Cambere scored seven goals and Schier dished out six assists, combining to help the Bears knock off UT-Dallas.
