MSU Denver’s Lambert Signs with Outlaws

MSU Denver’s Lambert Signs with Outlaws

March 13th, 2018 General News | MSUD

DENVER – The Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse have signed former MSU Denver standout Forrest Lambert from last month’s open tryouts.

Lambert was one of eight players signed at the tryouts, which comes with an invitation to the 40-man training camp in April.

“We have had tremendous success with open tryouts in the past, with several of our active roster players coming from a tryout,” said Denver assistant general manager John Cohen. “We think this year is no exception and look forward to these guys making a positive difference in training camp and hopefully the regular season.”

Lambert played the 2015 and ’16 season for the Roadrunners primarily as a defensive midfielder. He was named to the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) first team as a short-stick defensive midfielder both seasons.

The Aurora, Colo., product was the RMLC Defensive Player of the Year in 2016 as well as being an MCLA Division II Second Team All-American.

"The opportunity of being invited to training camp for an MLL team is a dream, but being invited to camp for my hometown team is an absolute honor," Lambert wrote in a Facebook post. "Thanks to everyone who has played with me, coached me or supported me during my lacrosse career. One step closer."

He finished his two-year career with 10 goals, 20 assists and 169 ground balls.

"I preach to the players I work with that the game changer will always be the time they invest in themselves outside of practice and games," said Daniel Hunter, the current MSU Denver coach and former teammate of Lambert's. "This is a philosophy Forrest lives by and has been living by long before we crossed paths.

"The time he has invested in developing himself as a lacrosse player is paying off and it's fun to witness that as a friend, former teammate, fellow coach and coach of his."
