UMLC-I Tournament Set

MINNEAPOLIS – The field is set for the seven-team Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference Division I Tournament and host Iowa State and Indiana will have top seeds at the event that start on Friday in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones (6-4, 4-1) grabbed the No. 1 seed out of the West and will faceoff against the East’s fourth seed, Illinois State (4-4, 1-2), in the 5 p.m. contest on Friday.

2018 UMLC DIVISION I TOURNAMENT BRACKET

The winner of that game will face the winner of No. 2E Purdue (3-10, 2-1) and No. 3W MSU Mankato (2-7, 2-3) at 7 p.m.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 2W Missouri (6-7, 3-2) will square off against No. 3E Oakland (6-4, 2-2) at 7 p.m. The winner of that game faces No. 1E Indiana at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The Hoosiers earned a bye into the semis.

The winner of Sunday’s title contest will earn an automatic qualifying berth to the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will take place in Salt Lake City from May 7-12.

“We’re excited to have a Division I tournament in the UMLC again and this year’s version should be exciting,” said UMLC director Derek Daehn. “The field is wide open and the stakes are very high.”

Admission to the UMLC Division I Tournament is free of charge. Local youth and high school players are encouraged to attend.

Quarterfinals – Ames, Iowa – April 27
GAME 1: No. 4E Illinois State vs. No. 1W Iowa State, 5 p.m.
GAME 2: No. 3W MSU-Mankato vs. No. 2E Purdue, 7 p.m.
GAME 3: No. 3E Oakland vs. No. 2W Missouri, 7 p.m.

Semifinals – Ames, Iowa – April 28
GAME 1 winner vs. GAME 2 winner, 12 p.m.
GAME 3 winner vs. No. 1E Indiana, 3 p.m.

Finals – Ames, Iowa – April 29
Semifinal winners, 12 p.m.
