PITTSBURGH -- The University of Pittsburgh men’s lacrosse program is excited to announce the hiring of Zach Wilfong as its new head coach starting with the 2018-19 campaign.

Wilfong joins the Panthers after a two-year stint as the offensive coordinator at Seton Hill (Pa.) University, one of NCAA Division II's power programs.

During his two seasons with the Griffins, Wilfong helped lead the Griffins to a 29-6 record while also boasting the nation’s top-ranked offense. Seton Hill also won two Great Midwest Athletic Conference championships while earning a national semifinal appearance last spring.

His coaching responsibilities ran concurrent with earning his Master of Business Administration degree from Seton Hill. Throughout his time at Seton Hill, he directly coached several NCAA D-II USILA All-Americans, as well as the 2018 G-MAC Offensive Player of the Year.

Prior to Seton Hill, Wilfong played a crucial role in developing a program at NCAA Division III’s Ohio Northern University. At ONU, he assisted the lacrosse team in their inaugural year, serving as recruiting coordinator and primary assistant coach, while helping the team achieve a winning record of 8-7 during the 2016 season.

He also spent time as Carnegie Mellon head coach and Central Catholic High School’s offensive coordinator.

As a player, Wilfong was a standout attackman at Saint Vincent (Pa.) College. He was a four-year starter, three-year captain, and one of the top all-time scorers in school history. After his senior year, he was selected to play in the USILA D-III North-South Game.

Wilfong takes over a Pitt program that finished 5-10 in 2018 and fell in the first round of the CCLA tournament to eventual national champion Michigan State.
