Duca Named Coach at Northeastern

Duca Named Coach at Northeastern

September 27th, 2018 General News | Northeastern

BOSTON – After a national search to replace the departed Chris Boland, who left the program to pursue other professional opportunities, Northeastern has elevated Thomas Duca to head coach starting with the 2018-19 season.

Duca has been the defensive coordinator for the Huskies for the past three seasons, helping Northeastern post a 21-14 mark, which includes a trip to the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour after winning the PCLL title.

“Coach Duca brings experience, a strong knowledge of the game and a great relationship with the team,” said junior defender Patrick Norton. “We are extremely confident that he will continue to lead our program to what we want: a national championship.”

Duca has extensive coaching experience at the prep level. Along with his Northeastern duties, he's the offensive coordinator for the Needham (Mass.) High School lacrosse program and he is also an assistant football coach at Waltham (Mass.) High School.

"I’m very excited to lead this team and want to thank the executive board for giving me the opportunity to become the head coach," Duca said. "I am so grateful to have joined on with Coach Boland and learned a great deal from him over the past three years. We have set high expectations for the program this coming season and we will be lead by a strong group of returners. Growing up in Greater Boston, having the opportunity to coach at Northeastern is a dream come true and I look forward to the challenges and successes ahead."

Duca graduated from Pace (N.Y.) University in 2009, where he played for the NCAA Division II lacrosse program. He is currently the co-owner and administrator of the 128 Lacrosse Club..

This year’s Northeastern assistant coaches will be announced at a later time.
