Captains, Schedule for Northeastern

Captains, Schedule for Northeastern

November 20th, 2018 General News | Northeastern

BOSTON -- The Northeastern men's lacrosse team is joining a new conference in 2019 -- the Continental Lacrosse Conference (CLC) -- and will rely on a crew of capable captains and a strong schedule in hopes of returning to nationals this spring.

Four student-athletes have been selected to lead the Huskies as captains in 2019. Senior attackman Billy McGinley, senior midfielder Darryl Robinson, junior midfielder Andrew Hughes and junior defender Cory Macdonald will wear the 'C' this spring.

McGinley, the 2019 PCLL Offensive Player of the Year, earned All-American kudos last spring and is a three-time choice for all-conference. Robinson is the team president and will be moving to midfield from his natural attack position.

A versatile midfielder who can faceoff, Hughes was an All-American last spring along with first team all-conference honors. Macdonald is an all-conference honorable mention honoree on defense and will be tasked with leading the backline.

Standing in front of the captains and the rest of the team is a rugged, 14-game regular season schedule featuring eight teams that finished in the final Under Armour Weekly Coaches Poll.

After a tuneup against CLC-II Bridgewater State, the Huskies travel to SoCal to face No. 11 Concordia-Irvine, No. 19 UC Santa Barbara and No. 2 Chapman in the span of four days.

Later in March awaits the Battle for Baltimore, highlighted by contests against No. 6 Virginia Tech and No. 7 Liberty.
