Foss Takes Over at Concordia-Irvine

Foss Takes Over at Concordia-Irvine

November 30th, 2018 General News | Concordia | San Diego State

IRVINE, Calif. - After an extensive search, Concordia University Irvine is proud to announce the addition of Jesse Foss as the new head coach of the Eagles men’s lacrosse program.

Foss comes to Concordia with extensive coaching experience. He spent the past two seasons at the helm at San Diego State and, prior to that position, the Levittown, N.Y., native established himself as a leader of one of the most successful high school lacrosse programs in Southern California.

"I am honored and humbled to have been chosen to lead the men's lacrosse program at Concordia,” said Foss. “I am sincerely grateful to President Kruger and Mo Roberson for this incredible opportunity. The Concordia lacrosse program has established itself as one of the strongest in the MCLA and I expect to continue that tradition. My family and I are very excited to be a part of the CUI family."

Before joining the Aztecs, Foss spent 14 years coaching lacrosse at La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif. After serving as an assistant coach for the Mavericks for eight years, Foss was promoted and compiled a record of 103-31 as LCC’s head coach during a six-year span. While in charge, Foss led the Mavericks to three CIF championships, two additional CIF championship appearances and six straight league titles.

“Not only do I think his leadership will be valuable,” said Concordia Athletics Director Mo Roberson, “but we will also benefit on type of student-athlete he will recruit to CUI.”

A graduate of Stony Brook University, Foss was a two-year starter for the Seawolves at attack and midfield during his playing days. Foss also played attack and midfield at Nassau Community College, where he helped NCC win a NJCAA National Championship in 1997.

Foss officially begins his duties on December 1. The Eagles are coming off an impressive 12-3 season and are slated to open up their 2019 regular season in February.
