Lacrosse Showcase a Huge Success

Lacrosse Showcase a Huge Success

November 5th, 2018 General News | Biola | Concordia | Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- Dominican University hosted the first annual West Coast Private University Lacrosse Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 13, featuring Biola, Concordia-Irvine, NCAA Division II's Notre Dame de Namur and the host Penguins, and the event was regarded as a huge success.

"It was a huge success not just because of the great lacrosse played by all teams, but because of the exposure for small, private university lacrosse in California," said Dominican coach Samuel Vogel-Seidenberg.

NorCalSportsTV streamed all the games online and in total the games had over 2,000 views. There were over 500 people who attended the event throughout the day who were treated to great collegiate lacrosse, food from Forrest Fire BBQ and new merchandise from Sling It Lacrosse.

All teams competed hard and played with respect for each other, and the game.

The first contest of the tournament was a 6-4 battle between Dominican and NDNU, with Dominican coming out on top.

The second game of the tournament found old rivals meeting up. Biola started fast, but Concordia-Irvine picked up the pace and ended up with a 10-2 win.

Next up was a goalie battle between NDNU and Biola, with NDNU coming out with their first win of the tournament, 9-4.

In the fourth game of the tournament the two 1-0 teams met up for a physical battle. Dominican started off fast, holding a lead going into halftime. Concordia-Irvine made a strong push back, but Dominican was able to close out the game with a 6-4 win.

Concordia-Irvine was looking for some redemption immediately after their loss to Dominican and came out firing with a big 12-3 win over a hard-fighting NDNU outfit.

Between the last two games all the teams came together at the middle of the field for a group photo (above) to show the respect and excitement that they all shared for growing the game of lacrosse in California.

In the last game of the tournament, Dominican was aiming for a sweep, and ended the tournament with a big 10-1 win over Biola. Biola fought hard in every game and played with a lot of respect for themselves, their opponents and the game of lacrosse. After the game, both teams met in the middle of the field to show their thanks for being able to play the sport they love.

Dominican finished the tournament with a clean 3-0 record, Concordia-Irvine finished 2-1, NDNU finished 1-2 and Biola finished at 0-3. The participants are excited to renew the event in 2019.
