ATLANTA – After lead the Gators to a pair of key non-conference road victories, Florida junior attackman Liam Byrnes earns MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending Feb. 10.

The burly (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) attackman started the weekend by dishing out three assists in the Gators’ 9-5 victory against LSU in Baton Rouge. He also gobbled up four ground balls in the victory.

On Saturday, the Garden City, N.Y., product struck for a hat trick against Oklahoma as Florida completed the weekend sweep with a 12-4 triumph.

“Both our contests this weekend started as low-scoring, defensive affairs,” said Florida coach Garrett Hanrahan. “Goaltending was excellent in both games, and it was clear early on that the team to find its offensive spark first would have the inside track to a win.

“Liam provided us with that spark in both contests and did so in a balanced manner, setting up his teammates for goals and finishing his own looks when the opportunities arose. His offensive production was excellent all weekend and was a critical factor in helping us pick up two big road wins.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Byrnes will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
