ATLANTA – For the first time since Week 8 of the 2017 season, California is the No. 1 team in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll.

The Golden Bears (6-0) ascended to the top spot after formerly top-ranked – and defending national champion – Michigan State (2-2) stumbled on Sunday against No. 6t Chapman (3-2). The Spartans retain a No. 4 ranking.

Cal grabbed 18 of the 22 first-place votes.

With Chapman beating Michigan State on Sunday, who will be the No. 1 team this week? #mcla19

South Carolina (5-0), the only semifinalist from last year that has yet to take a loss, grabbed the remaining first-place votes to sit at No. 2.

Georgia Tech (6-0) moves up to No. 3 this week while Arizona State (5-1) shoots up five spots from No. 10 to No. 5 with a pair of ranked victories.

Davenport and UC Santa Barbara exit the poll this week to make way for No. 23 Georgia and No. 24 USC.
