Arizona Finalizes Spring Schedule

Arizona Finalizes Spring Schedule

November 13th, 2019 General News | Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The University of Arizona men's lacrosse team will undertake a highly competitive, 13-game schedule in 2020.

The schedule includes games against seven teams that ended the 2019 season in the Top 25 of the MCLA New Balance Coaches Poll.

With the SLC conference realignment, which moved the conference into a single division, the Wildcats will have to battle it out with all seven SLC foes, including perennial powerhouses Chapman, Concordia-Irvine, Arizona State and Grand Canyon.

Only the top four will qualify for post-season conference play, so the team has its work cut out for them.

Arizona's non-conference schedule is also challenging and is highlighted by two neutral site contests. The Wildcats will meet Oregon at the annual PAC-12 Shootout in Los Angeles before facing 2019 national semifinalist Georgia Tech in Phoenix, both in February.

For spring break, the Wildcats will head to the Sunshine State for games at Central Florida in Orlando followed by Florida in Gainesville.

"We are excited about the competitive schedule we have ahead of us," said Arizona coach Matt Blamey. "The new conference alignment really bolsters our strength of schedule. Playing in the SLC, we know that we are always going to have to fight hard for a ticket to the postseason. We have worked to construct a schedule that will challenge us, but we feel our men are ready for the test. We are confident that our team will be battle-tested once we hit our conference slate."

Arizona will open the season at home on Feb. 8 by entertaining Dominican. Thanks to headlining sponsor, Casino Mine Ranch, all Wildcat home games will once again be professionally broadcasted by APN Video.
