Cal Poly Announces Captains, Sked

November 21st, 2019 General News | Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Seniors Ryan Brown, Doug Gosselin and Jack Tunney, along with junior Sam Galaif have been voted captains of Cal Poly for the 2020 season.

"Our players did a great job electing these four men to continue to lead our team throughout the season," said Cal Poly coach Bobby Dabrieo. "All four guys have led the team in their own way and I look forward to watching them grow as people and leaders."

A two-time All-American, Brown is coming off a year where he won 66 percent of his faceoffs and scooped 122 ground balls while adding five goals and five assists.

The senior face-off specialist is a two-time all-WCLL first team selection along with being a two-time Scholar Athlete. The Regis Jesuit (Colo.) product is a Construction Management major, boasting a 3.74 GPA and plans on being a project engineer in the Denver area.

Galaif, a midfielder, is back for his junior year after a breakout season where he scored eight goals and assisted on 28 others, earning him first team all-WCLL honors along with Second Team All-American accolades.

The San Diego product is a Business Administration major (3.61 GPA) and a 2019 Scholar Athlete with plans on pursuing a Master's in Sports Management.

Gosselin is a senior attackman who led the team in points last season with 32 goals and 18 assists. He's a three-year starter, two-time Scholar Athlete and has been a second team all-WCLL and an honorable mention selection.

Hailing from Salt Lake City, Doug is a Kinesiology major, works as a PT aide and plans on attending graduate school.

A two-time all-WCLL first team selection, Tunney is back for his senior campaign on defense following a junior season where he earned First Team All-American kudos and WCLL Defensive Player of the Year honors. The St. Ignatius (Calif.) product had three goals along with 30 ground balls last season.

Tunney is majoring in Construction Management and worked as a project intern for Fisher Development this past summer.
