Brown Steps Down as Coach at SOU

Brown Steps Down as Coach at SOU

July 30th, 2020 General News | Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Ore. – After coaching at Southern Oregon for 16 years, posting the most wins in Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League Division II history, Mark Brown has announced his retirement from the program.

Brown posted career record of 113-85 for the Raiders and was named the conference coach of the year four times, most recently in 2016 when he led Southern Oregon to the PNCLL title and its only visit to the MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.

During his stint in Ashland, he coached five defensive players of the year, 11 All-Americans and over 30 all-conference selections.

"Coaching at SOU has been one of the most honorable privileges of my life,” said Brown. “The amount of lifelong friendships built and extraordinary humans that I have been fortunate enough to coach has changed my life.”

A native of Ellicott City, Md., Brown moved to Oregon after graduating from Virginia Tech and became coach at Southern Oregon in 2005.

“I'd like to sincerely thank all of the players, assistant coaches, parents, fans and SOU lax supporters for all that they have done for the past 16 years."
