DeWan, Bosh Elected to Exec. Committee

DeWan, Bosh Elected to Exec. Committee

August 13th, 2021 General News | NDSU | San Diego

ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity collegiate league in the country, is pleased to announce the election of Mike DeWan and Zach Bosh to the Executive Committee by vote of the Board of Directors.

The duo replaces Tyler Yelken and Doug Horn on the Executive Committee.

“All of the candidates were well qualified to be members of the committee, but Mike and Zach provide the MCLA a diversity of ideas that will be helpful as we move into the future,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “We want to sincerely thank Tyler and Doug for their long hours of hard work in service of the MCLA.”

DeWan started his MCLA journey as defenseman for UC Santa Barbara, where he earned all-WCLL honors. He followed that with several stops, including defensive coordinator spots at UC San Diego and San Diego State.

He served as head coach at San Diego, where he helped found the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) as a vice president in 2009. His last MCLA coaching gig was an assistant spot at Chapman.

“I feel the same sense of devotion that many of us do for the sport that I love, helped shaped, and has done so much for me,” said DeWan. “Beyond that, those years in college had a major effect on me, and I saw the impact I was able to have coaching during those formidable years. It is why I am so passionate about the MCLA experience.”

After playing in the MCLA at Minnesota State-Moorhead, Bosh has been a staple in the association.

He started his coaching career at his alma mater before taking over at North Dakota State University in 2010.

Since taking over in Fargo, Bosh has transformed the Bison into an MCLA Division II juggernaut. NDSU has reached at least the national semifinals at the last four MCLA championships, winning the Division II national title in 2018.

In both 2011 and ’18, Bosh was named the MCLA Coach of the Year.

In addition, Bosh has been the Division II vice president for the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC) while also serving on the MCLA Division II All-America committee.

“I have been a part of the MCLA for over 20 years as a player and coach,” Bosh said. “I thought this would be a great way for me to help out and give back to the organization that has been such a huge part of my life. I am excited to see how I can help us in the future.”
