ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity lacrosse league in the country, is pleased to announce that Don Vince has been selected as the new Director of Player Eligibility for the organization, effective immediately.

Vince takes over the role after the retirement of long-time Director of Player Eligibility and long-time MCLA coach Doug Carl.

“Our eligibility requirements create a level playing field for our organization, so the Director of Player Eligibility is an extremely important position within the MCLA,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “Having an experienced and dedicated administrator like Don step into this role is a huge win for us. We obviously thank Doug Carl for his years of wonderful service.”

Vince has been a part of the MCLA since 2007, when he took over as the director of operations for the Dayton men’s lacrosse team. During his tenure, which ran through 2016, the Flyers posted a 119-29 record, which included three Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) Division II championships and the 2015 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.

In addition to his duties with Dayton, Vince was also the coordinator of competition and eligibility for the CCLA from 2015-17. He maintained that position with the advent of the Continental Lacrosse Conference – a league he was instrumental in creating with the merging of the CCLA and the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) – in 2018.

At the MCLA level, Vince was a member of the staff at the 2019 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance while also participating on the Covid Reopening Committee from 2020-21. He was also a member of the MCLA Invitational Planning/Logistics Committee.

"I am truly honored to be selected to be the next Director of Player Eligibility of the MCLA, and I look forward to continuing my service to the MCLA, the nine conferences it serves, and to the players, coaches and its member institutions,” Vince said.

“Following Doug Carl, and his many years of valuable and dedicated service to the MCLA, is a daunting task,” he continued. “But, having worked closely with him during the past seven years as coordinator of eligibility at the conference level, coupled with the apparent fact that a person has to have two first names to hold this position, I am confident that the transition will be smooth and seamless."
