Hicks Steps Down at San Marcos

October 11th, 2021 General News | Cal State San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- Teddy Hicks, the long-time head coach at Cal State San Marcos, has announced that he is stepping down from that position after serving for nearly a decade.

Hicks will continue as the program director for the Cougars and stay involved in the day-to-day operations.

"It was an honor of a lifetime to be able to build and be a part of this program," said Hicks. "It's something I will always hold closely to my heart."

Hicks took the reins of the San Marcos program in 2012 and within six years had the Panthers in the MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.

He posted a 61-41 mark over his career along with six appearances in the SLC tournament and the one trip to nationals.

“I know I speak for the entire board and fellow SLC coaches when I say that Coach Hicks will be missed big time,” sald SLC director Matt Holman.

San Marcos elevates Wyatt Ehrhardt to head coaching position. Ehrhardt was an assistant to Hicks for the past five seasons.

"Wyatt is prepared and ready to take over and continue to lead San Marcos in the years to come," said Hicks.

Ehrhardt is a Temecula, Calif., product and played his prep lacrosse at Great Oaks High School. He played his collegiate ball at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, where he was twice earned all-conference recognition.
