Arizona’s Boyd Earns Warrior Honors

Arizona’s Boyd Earns Warrior Honors

February 8th, 2022 General News | Arizona | Florida | Santa Clara | South Florida | Stanford

ATLANTA – With a record-setting performance in the season opener against Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) rival UCLA, Arizona senior Peyton Boyd has earned MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 6.

The three goals Boyd posted in the 19-5 victory over the Bruins would be strong enough, but the Las Vegas product also dished a spectacular 12 assists for a staggering 15-point afternoon.

The assist and point marks are Arizona single-game program records.

"With our new uniforms still in transit, Peyton had to wear No. 48 this weekend. He wasn't exactly thrilled to wear that number,” said Arizona coach Matt Blamey. “We joked before the game that he now had to get four goals and eight assists to represent that jersey.

“Unbelievably, he did better than that! Peyton has always been a special player. He has an instinctual ability to know where his teammates are going to be before they get there. He's put up some big numbers in the past, but this one obviously tops them all. We couldn't be prouder of him."

For earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Boyd will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
