Dominican’s Pierce Player of the Week

February 15th, 2022 General News | Concordia | Dominican | Purdue | South Florida | Utah Valley | Virginia Tech

ATLANTA – After guiding Dominican to a pair of season-opening victories, including a ranked triumph, Penguins graduate student attackman Maxwell Pierce has been named the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 13.

Dominican opened the weekend by hosting No. 20 Oregon and the Oakland, Calif., product was superb. Had had two goals and three assists in regulation, but Pierce completed his hat trick in overtime to give the Penguins 16-15 victory.

Pierce and the Penguins entertained Stanford the following day and Pierce struck again for another hat trick and three more dimes in Dominican’s 17-11 triumph.

“Max was one of the many players to spark the Pangs,” said Dominican coach Sammy Vogel-Seidenberg. “After going down 9-2, he scored a huge goal on man up to start the run. He was also a key in the ride to cause some big turnovers.

“He has the experience of being a fifth year player who had to go through many hard seasons. He used his experience to help will the team back to life and made a huge play in OT to give the Pangs the win over a strong Oregon team.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Pierce will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
