FGCU’s Cucinotta D-II Player of Week

FGCU’s Cucinotta D-II Player of Week

February 22nd, 2022 General News | Dallas Baptist | FAU | FGCU | Loyola Marymount | Montana | NNU | Rhode Island

ATLANTA – After posting seven-points a game in three Florida Gulf Coast victories at the Battle by the Bay, Eagles junior attackman Christian Cucinotta has earned MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 20

FGCU opened the event on Saturday against Baylor, and the Drexel Hill, Pa., product factored in seven of the Eagles nine goals in a 9-5 with six goals and an assist.

That performance was followed later in the day against Texas A&M D-II when Cucinotta scored four goals and set up three others in a comfortable, 20-4 victory.

On Sunday, Florida Gulf Coast tangled with No. 8 Missouri State and Cucinotta did not cool down at all. He scored seven goals as the No. 15 Eagles stunned the Bears, 13-7.

For the weekend, Cucinotta scored 17 goals and dished out four assists.

“Christian was the backbone of our offense this week, being a contributor in nearly every facet of the game,” said Florida Gulf Coast Vinny Valentine. “Dodging, shooting, passing, riding. He played fantastic. His play and energy were contagious and he helped keep our entire offense focused and confident in our abilities to run our system for each of our three games.

“When we needed a momentum change, to either extend the lead or to stop the bleeding, it seemed to continuously come from him. He was completely dialed in, an absolute rockstar this weekend.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Cucinotta will receive either a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
