Wake’s Muller Named Player of Week

Wake’s Muller Named Player of Week

March 22nd, 2022 General News | FAU | Kennesaw State | Tulane | Wake Forest

ATLANTA – After helping Wake Forest knock off a quality opponent, Demon Deacons senior attackman Dawson Muller has been named the MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending March 20.

Muller, a Ridgefield, Conn., product, and Wake Forest entertained MSU Denver – a team ranked just outside the Top 25 this week – and thanks to a pair of goals and a couple more assists, the Deacons took down the Roadrunners, 20-8.

He also gobbled up a quartet of ground balls in the win.

The points total was a season high for Muller.

“Dawson is one of the best leaders Wake Forest lacrosse has had in my eight years,” said Wake Forest coach Brett Hewitt. “Dawson runs the offense at practice and out on the field on game day. We expect the captains to contribute at every level at Wake Forest and Dawson comes into practice each and every day with a list of things the team needs to work on and a plan to help us improve.

“He is an invaluable asset in making his teammates better. On game days, he is able to analyze the game strategically with what he sees on the field and help make adjustments with what the offense needs to do.

“With his knowledge of the game, he is as much a coach on the field as he is a player. Dawson leads by example on the field, consistently drawing slides and hitting his teammates with laser passes or finishing around the cage with highlight reel shots.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Muller will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
