Charlotte’s Hudson Player of Week

Charlotte’s Hudson Player of Week

May 3rd, 2022 General News | Cal State San Marcos | Montana | UC Davis | UNC-Charlotte

ATLANTA – After leading UNC-Charlotte to the ALC championship and a berth in the 2022 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, 49ers senior attackman Connor Hudson is the Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending May 1.

In the ALC semifinals, Charlotte jumped all over Appalachian State, thanks to five goals from the Greensboro, N.C., product.

In the championship game against No. 25 Coastal Carolina, Hudson again was a monster, netting a hat trick while also setting up three other goals.

For the weekend he had eight goals and three dimes. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

“Connor had the play of the ALC tournament when he caught a full field pass with two seconds left, only to finish with a behind-the-back goal as time expired to go up 4-3,” said UNC-Charlotte coach Nick Nedvesky.

“Not only is he a team captain and team president, but he’s the hardest working guy for us, on and off the field. He is there before practices, working on his craft, as well as the first one there on game days.

“He pushes teammates to be better each rep and his ability to stay in the moment is what separates him from the pack. Great shooting, great vision and such a creative mindset when he approaches the game, which is hard to defend.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Hudson will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.

The Washington, D.C., native was named the MVP of the WCLL tourney after scoring a goal and dropping two times, along with his defensive duties.

Gavin Yeoumans, Attack – Montana
The Portland, Ore., product buried a hat trick against NNU and then notched five points (2g, 3a) in the upset win over top-ranked College of Idaho.
