Florida State Opens Coaching Search

June 6th, 2022 General News | Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida State men’s lacrosse program is searching for a head coach for the 2023 season and beyond.

The lacrosse team is an MCLA Division I program that competes in the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) and is administered through the Florida State University Sports Club program.

This is a part-time position. The team budget allows for a competitive pay structure based on experience, but additional revenue source may be necessary.

To apply, send resumes to team president Will Sackman or Jonas Clingerman, team vice president.

Responsibilities
Lead coaching staff and delegate tasks to appropriate assistant coaches, team administrators, or player officers.

Organize and administer all aspects of the lacrosse program, including game/practice planning and strategy with duties including but not limited to:

- Scheduling/planning
- Coordinating practice schedules & logistics
- Recruiting
- Supervising assistant coaches
- Implementing a strong foundation of team culture and discipline

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Preference will be given to the candidate who has playing and coaching experience at the MCLA and/or NCAA level. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are essential for the team and individual players to reach their full potential.

This position requires consistent team communication regarding logistics, philosophy, player performance and general team feedback.

This individual is tasked with keeping University administrators, parents and alumni well informed, as communication is crucial to the FSU lacrosse family. The way that the program represents the University is fundamental to the long-term success of the program.

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Questions to consider when applying:
1.- What is your 3–5-year plan in Tallahassee? (Job, Family, Living, etc…)
2.- What kind of head coach do you want to be and with that style how do you plan to implement discipline?
3.- How do you plan to deal with players missing practice and showing up late and what policy would you implement for acceptable excuses?
4.- What is your plan for the coaching staff and who would you bring in to help coach with you?
5.- What offense and defensive sets do you want to implement and why?
6.- How do you plan to handle recruiting and players wanting to join the program?
7.- How do you plan to grow the game in Tallahassee?
