MCLA Backs NLA Intiative

MCLA Backs NLA Intiative

August 23rd, 2022 General News

ATLANTA - The Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity league in the country, is pleased to endorse the National Lacrosse Association (NLA), which is a newly formed professional lacrosse league that showcases non-traditional lacrosse players who have lacked the opportunity to play and/or excel at the professional level.

The three pillars of the NLA are to address the lack of diversity, improve community relations and establish a professional standard by implementing metrics to see how a professional lacrosse player is measured.

To learn more about the NLA, please reference this USA Lacrosse Magazine article.

The NLA is excited to gain the support of the MCLA. The goal is to provide an opportunity for MCLA players to transition into the NLA pro league.

We are looking to identify players that dominate their level of play via statistics and through communications between MCLA and NLA coaching staffs.

NLA administrators and staff plan to attend the national championship tournaments to watch potential NLA professionals and provide a presence as a vendor.

Calendar
NLA pro days are exclusively for post-collegiate players. They offer this event twice, one each in the fall and spring.

The NLA combine is exclusively for seniors graduating in the upcoming season who are interested in participating in the NLA pro league. This event occurs the Saturday after Memorial Day.
