Florida’s Terzi Named Goalie of Week

Florida’s Terzi Named Goalie of Week

February 7th, 2023 General News | Dominican | Florida | Sonoma State | Virginia Tech

ATLANTA – Florida started the season with a 2-0 mark, including a Top 5 victory, thanks to the play of backstop Jadon Terzi, who was named the Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 5.

Terzi, a St. Petersburg, Fla., native, started the week against No. 5 Clemson on the road and showed up big time. The junior turned away eight of the 12 shots (66.7 save percentage) he faced to help the Gators post the 11-4 triumph.

Two days later, Terzi blocked nine of the 18 shots coming his away against Georgia as Florida downed the Bulldogs, 15-9.

“With the departure of a three-year starter, captain and an All-American Matt Corazon, we've found ourselves in the midst of a true goalie competition for the first time in a while,” said Florida coach Garrett Hanrahan. “All four guys in our goalie group have done a great job competing with a positive spirit and pushing each other toward improvement.

“It was not an easy choice, but we decided Jadon had earned an opportunity to show us what he's capable of heading into the Clemson game. He performed well enough in that game to earn another start against Georgia.”

For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Terzi will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.

PEARL Honor Roll

William Eckert, Sr. – Virginia Tech
The Hokies rolled to a pair of road wins against Alabama and Auburn, bolstered by a combined 14 saves and two goals against by the Nokesville, Va., product.

Dylan Hardy, Fr. – Sonoma State
In his first collegiate action, the rookie from Oak Park, Calif., turned away eight shots and allowed just four goals in the Seawolves win over Stanford.

Brandon Stuckey, Jr. – Dominican
The Penguins stunned No. 9 USC on the road thanks in part to 16 saves (64.0 save percentage) by the Jacksonville, Fla., native.
