ATLANTA – After leading Concordia to huge win over a ranked conference rival, Eagles sophomore netminder Daniel Yang is the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending April 23.

With the top seed in the upcoming SLC conference tournament on the line against No. 6 Chapman on Saturday, the San Diego product anchored a suffocating defense that yielded an 8-6 victory.

Yang finished with 10 saves and a 62.5 save percentage to post the victory.

“Daniel was seeing the ball great against Chapman,” said Concordia coach Jesse Foss. “He made all the saves he needed to and stole a few as well.

“Daniel has been lights out all season and his consistency, confidence, and quickness make him one of the best in the MCLA. His skill set allows our defense to play aggressive and lets guys like Jake Cloutier and Braden Schneider pressure the ball.”

For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Yang will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.

In the Cyclones big win over Illinois, the Hastings, Minn., product made 22 saves, snatched four ground balls and even dished out an assist.

Jake Hives, Soph. – Grand Canyon
The Littleton, Colo., backstop turned away 27 shots – a 77.1 save percentage – in the Lopes impressive win over San Diego State.

Declan Maseker, Soph. – Southern Methodist
The Madison, N.J., backstop turned away 20 shots – good for a 71.4 save percentage – in leading the Mustangs to an LSA quarterfinal upset.

Aidan Shah, Soph. – Arizona State
The Sun Devils defeated archrival Arizona thanks to 16 saves and 72.7 save percentage from the Portland, Ore., product.

Max Sturgill, Soph. – Utah Valley
In a sweep of Colorado and Colorado State, the Lehi, Utah, product combined for 31 to lift the Wolverines.
