ATLANTA – After backstopping Simon Fraser to its second straight PNCLL championship, Red Leafs junior netminder Connor Nichols has been named the MCLA D-I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending April 28.

With Fraser facing archrival Oregon with a ticket to nationals on the line on Sunday, the Coquitlam, B.C., product delivered for the Red Leafs.

The game was a low-scoring affair, mostly due to the 15 saves Nichols posted to give Fraser the 6-5 victory. He finished with a 75.0 save percentage for the day.

“Connor was our backbone in a great defensive battle against Oregon for the conference title,” said Simon Fraser coach Matt Sobey. “He rose to the occasion and played the best game of his career to lead us to our second consecutive PNCLL title

“He made numerous saves in tight. He's waited for a few years to be our starting goalie and has been an incredible and selfless teammate the entire time.”

For winning the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Nichols will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.
