Tennessee’s DeMella Grabs Warrior Award

Tennessee’s DeMella Grabs Warrior Award

April 16th, 2024 General News | Arizona State | BYU | California | Clemson | Colorado State | Florida | NC State | New Hampshire | Oregon | Tennessee | Texas | West Virginia

ATLANTA – After guiding Tennessee to a massive upset that wrapped up the top-seed in the upcoming ALC tournament, Volunteer freshman faceoff specialist Max DeMella has been named the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 14.

Squaring off with No. 2 Virginia Tech, Tennessee leaned on its FOGO from Arnold, Md., who won 20-of-23 draws – good for an 86.9 winning percentage – helping the Vols post the 13-12 stunner.

DeMella also gobbled up 22 ground balls on the afternoon.

“Max has played a vital role on our team since earning the starting faceoff spot at the beginning of the season,” said Tennessee coach Jacob Noel. “At the faceoff X, he is one of the fastest and strongest I’ve ever seen, which was highlighted on Friday.

“He is one of our hardest workers and pushes himself day-in and day-out to keep perfecting his craft. He doesn’t settle or get complacent. But what really separates him from other athletes is his willingness to learn and be coachable. He is a great young faceoff athlete, and I can’t wait to see what his future holds.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, DeMella will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
