USU’s Williams Is Warrior Player of Week

USU’s Williams Is Warrior Player of Week

April 16th, 2024 General News | GVSU | Long Beach | Rhode Island | San Jose State | Stonehill | UC Santa Cruz | UNCW | Utah State | Wake Forest

ATLANTA – After leading Utah State to a split weekend against a pair of ranked teams, Aggies junior attackman Cooper Williams is the MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 14.

Utah State started their two-game journey to Idaho to face host Northwest Nazarene, ranked No. 11 in the country, and despite coming up short in a 16-12 defeat, the Baltimore product buried a pair of goals and set up three others for the Aggies.

In the second game against No. 24 Western Washington, Williams again delivered, tallying five goals while dishing out three assists.

For the weekend, Williams amassed seven goals and six assists. For the season, he has 55 points (36g, 19a).

“Regardless of the opponent or game conditions, Coop is going to have an impact on the field,” said Utah State coach Scott Bingham. “He plays with deception, a high IQ and the sort of toughness you want in a dominant attackman. I’ve never seen him get flustered or frustrated. As one of our captains he keeps a cool, level head and leads our offense by example.

“The fact that he draws the top defender from other teams doesn't slow him down. He always finds a way to make his presence known and to help his team find success. Cooper will leave Utah State as one of the greatest. He’s currently only six points away from the all-time points record at USU will still another season to play. The kid is a problem for anyone and I’m glad he’s on our side.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Williams will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
