SCAD Signs Five for Class of '19

October 26th, 2015 General News | SCAD

SAVANNAH, Ga. - SCAD men's lacrosse coach Michael Cummings has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the Class of 2019. Sam Button, Reid Campbell, Kyle Gallagher, Mitch Snider, and Miles Whitworth will be joining the Bees this fall.

Button is an attacker from Olentangy Orange High School in Westerville, Ohio. Button was a four-year varsity player and was named second team All-OCC in 2015. Button also was named an All-Region honorable mention. During his senior season, Button tallied 28 goals, 13 assists, and 34 ground balls.

Campbell is an attacker from Magnolia, Texas and played at Magnolia High School. Campbell was a three year varsity start and helped lead Magnolia to back-to-back district championships. During his senior season Campbell was on the team in goals and led the team in assists and was named an All-State player. Campbell also became Magnolia's all-time leading scorer in goals, assists, and points. Off the field, Campbell volunteers as a coach with the Magnolia Lacrosse Club's youth program

"Reid is a fast attackman, with an excellent first step. He has the ability to create scoring opportunities and has great field vision," said Cummings. "His lacrosse IQ will be a nice addition to the SCADLAX attack unit in 2016."

Gallagher is a goalie that played four years at Middleburg Academy in Round Hill, Virginia. Gallagher led his region in saves and earned Washington Post All-Met recognition his sophomore and junior seasons. He was named most improved player in 2013 and was the team's MVP in 2015. Gallagher set the school record for most saves in a game on two different occasions.

Snider was a duel-sport athlete participating in both lacrosse and football while attending Edgewood High School in Oregon, Wisconsin. Snider was a five year varsity player that was captain of the team his senior season. During his junior year, he was named an All-Conference player at midfield. He also saw success on the football field being named first team All-Conference and first team All-City as a running back.

Whitworth is a Savannah native that played midfielder for Islands High School. Whitworth registered 39 points (25 goals, 14 assists) and recorded 48 groundballs on way to help the Savannah Spartans win the South Carolina Independent Lacrosse League Championship during his senior season.

Whiteworth, a Savannah native, will be the third member of his family to put on the SCAD Bees uniform. Miles older brother, Cole, played for the Bees during his college career and their sister, Rainey, played one season for the SCAD Women's team prior to transferring to Southern Virginia University
