Coaches vs. Cancer Sets Fundraising Mark

Coaches vs. Cancer Sets Fundraising Mark

March 11th, 2016 General News | Auburn | BYU | Fullerton | Chapman | Concordia | Georgia Tech | MSUD | Michigan State | San Diego State | Sierra Nevada | Claremont | UNLV | San Diego | USC | Texas | Utah Valley | Western Oregon

LAS VEGAS – The results on the fields of the LAX Coaches vs. Cancer events last weekend were a huge success and the fundraising numbers were equally spectacular, thanks to the efforts of numerous MCLA programs.

The games, which were held in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Las Vegas, raised $8,988 for the American Cancer Society, eclipsing last year’s mark of $7,100.

The largest congregation of MCLA teams happened in Vegas, where 12 programs – Brigham Young, Chapman, Concordia-Irvine, Cal State Fullerton, Metro State, UNLV, San Diego, San Diego State, Sierra Nevada, Texas, Utah Valley and Western Oregon – played over the course of three days. All of the teams donated toward the cause.

There were also campus events. Georgia Tech hosted Auburn and Michigan State, and the three programs combined to raise $2,077 on their own. Claremont and Southern California also hosted on-campus games for the cause.

“Thanks to the fans of all the schools for their kind donations as well as the teams that participated,” said Matt Holman of EMW, which ran the event in Henderson, Nev., a suburb of Las Vegas.

If you’re interested in participating in the 2017 LAX Coaches vs. Cancer event in Henderson or at an on-campus venue, please contact Matt Holman.
